For next week: Conversation project (or, eavesdropping as creative practice)

Hi everyone,

Here is the project description for the Conversation project. Your assignment this week is to keep your ears open for interesting tidbits of conversation. Write down a few ideas, and bring materials to class to start working on your project. If you want to create thumbnails on your own this week, you'll just be one step ahead.


Conversation project (or, eavesdropping as creative practice)

Description
Listen to other people talking and find a few phrases that pique your interest. Write them down. In class, you will work on taking one of the phrases and developing an illustration from it. You will follow the basic phases of creating an illustration: thumbnails, sketches, developed illustration.

Specs
One illustration, no smaller than 11 x 14”
Any color medium/media

Timeline
October 28: Your assignment is to eavesdrop and find thought-provoking phrases, and then to create several thumbnails from these phrases for class.
November 4: Work in class on developing thumbnails into sketches.
November 11: Final
